Chemistry Helps NSCAD Chart its Future

NSCAD, Canada’s oldest degree-granting visual arts university, has invited chemistry to help chart the venerable institution’s future.

Known primarily as the school that thrilled the art world in the 70s and 80s with its bold focus on conceptual art, NSCAD has been faced with new competitive challenges over the last 10 years of demographic, technological and cultural change.

Both its fine art and design curricula have a reputation for creative rigour that few other schools in Canada can offer, but a recent wave of aggressive marketing and brand development among Canadian universities has made this category a much noisier place in which to compete. NSCAD hopes to reinvigorate its reputation and rise above the noise as it charts a course for the future.
